Who are we?

Private Financial Counsel is a firm focused on helping clients find value, while not losing wealth or sacrificing income.  Adam Smith’s approach is to use age old, tried and true financial concepts, in concert with creative thinking and outside the box ideas, to provide financial advice that is second to none.

“As fiduciaries, it is our legal and ethical duty to put our clients’ interests ahead of our own.  This statement is profoundly greater than other oaths that promise confidentiality and to “do no harm.”  As fiduciaries, we must be close, trusted confidants, willing to challenge our clients when needed, to ensure that their financial plans are secure and executed in their own best interests.  Devoid of ambition and offering only disinterested advice, fiduciaries must be willing to surrender not only profits but even the relationship itself in order to protect the client and their family.”

The concepts and strategies recommended by the team at Private Financial Counsel are not new, nor are they proprietary.  These are ideas that institutions and affluent families have been using for decades but which are not well known to the average broker or investment advisor.  “I’ve worked alongside very prominent CPAs and tax professionals, tasked with advising our mutual clients, and it never ceases to amaze me; either these professionals are unaware of the strategies I’m suggesting, or they just didn’t think it was their place to offer that kind of advice.”  What strategies are your tax or financial advisor not sharing with you?

About
Adam Smith

Author Speaker Educator  Advisor

Adam Smith is a man of loyalty and trustworthiness, someone solid that others can depend on.  As a Financial Advisor with over 23 years of experience helping clients preserve wealth, it was those very ideas of fidelity and steadfastness that Private Financial Counsel, LLC was built on.

“Maybe it was my experiences in scouting and the projects I undertook to rise to the level of Eagle Scout, that focused my life’s work on concepts of duty to God and country, duty to others, and duty to self.  I try to live by an ethical, moral, and spiritual code, and I will always require my practice follow that code as well.”

Adam started his independent practice in 2006.  He serves clients nationally. Early in his career, he passed the Series 6, Series 7, Series 63, Series 65, and Series 24 securities licensing exams.  Adam is currently life and health insurance licensed in many states and has previously achieved the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation, as well as the Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultant (ChFEBC) designation.

Originally from the mid-west, Adam has lived in Florida with his wife of twenty-four years and his four children since 2003.  A graduate of Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business, with a degree in finance and economics, Adam often points out that what he does for clients has been learned through experience, not classwork. An avid fisherman, SCUBA diver, alpine skier, college sports enthusiast, and wine aficionado, when Adam is not working to serve clients, his first love is for his family.

“The reality of investment management, and the rendering of quality financial advice, is that it is very much a craft that requires practice; it is not a science.”
